The Aggregate Series is an interview series featuring the fund management team and staff of Aggregate Asset Management (AAM). In each episode, members of the AAM team share their vision, enthusiasm, and professional journeys, offering viewers an inside look at what makes working at AAM unique and exciting.
In this episode, investment analysts Belfort Tan and Cheen Wee Kiang discuss their roles and experiences working at AAM. Belfort became an analyst 12 years ago when he invested his angpao money in stocks at the suggestion of his father. He developed a keen interest in researching stocks and eventually became an analyst. Belfort has a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree in Accounting and Finance and has also honed his skills in programming and data analysis. He believes that AAM is different from other asset management firms because it is a boutique fund where he has the opportunity to work on a variety of research projects beyond writing research reports. Belfort also values the fact that AAM is open to suggestions from its employees.
Wee Kiang was inspired by his grandfather’s interest in stocks and developed a passion for finance as a result. He completed the Analysis Training Programme, which equipped him with the skills and knowledge to become an analyst and manage funds. Like Belfort, Wee Kiang finds AAM’s fee structure unique in Singapore. AAM does not charge management fees, but only a performance fee on profit based on a high water mark.
