Matthew, Investment Analyst at Aggregate Asset Management
When work gets busy behind the scenes, Matthew is one of the people keeping things moving at AAM. As our Investment Analyst, he is involved in turning data and headlines into calm, long-term decisions for our clients.
Before joining AAM, Matthew worked in trading operations for a European bank. He was drawn to AAM because of our value investing philosophy. He believes in buying great companies when they are undervalued and holding them for the long term, allowing the effects of compounding to do the work.
As an investment analyst, Matthew focuses on researching companies across the world and assists in managing the Aggregate Value Fund. Day to day, that means he helps to keep the portfolio diversified to manage risk while adhering to the long term goals of the fund.
His favourite part of the job? Continuously adapting to ever-changing markets. With investors processing vast amounts of data in real time, markets have become highly volatile. Balancing a strict long-term focus with the agility to adjust our positioning as immediate conditions dictate keeps him on his toes at all times.
Outside of work, Matthew divides his time between high-energy pursuits like bouldering and running, and exploring the local food scene. He is constantly on the lookout for both a challenging climbing route and a hidden culinary gem.
When asked to describe his approach to work, he says: “My approach to investing/work is simple: Always invest in yourself first.”
